Hunter/Central Coast Tourism aWARDS
Over the years the Hunter Tourism Awards and the Hunter/Central Coast Tourism Awards have been fundamental in giving operators a chance to review their respective operations as well as providing a compulsory first step and "trial run" in the pathway to the NSW Tourism Awards.
In recent times the pathway to the NSW Tourism Awards has changed and operators have been provided with the opportunity to enter those Awards without first winning their respective section at a regional level. As a result, entries to regional Awards have substantially reduced in number as operators have sidestepped the regional process and focused their time and energy on seeking recognition at the NSW Tourism Awards and a chance at automatic entry to the Nationals.
Given this reduction in entries, the viability of our local Awards has been in question for some time and in an environment of scarce resources and an inability to continue subsidisation of the event, the decision has been made not to hold the Hunter/Central Coast Tourism Awards in 2015.
The Tourism Industry Council - which organises the NSW State Tourism Awards - has been informed of this decision and is well positioned to assist operators to prepare their submissions for State.
